Infinity Bond MMA 310 and 310 Plus Review

When it comes to adhesive bonding, selecting a product involves more than comparing specifications. You need to be able to trust that the adhesive you choose will perform reliably for your application, especially if it involves load-bearing or structural assemblies.

With more than 50 years of experience in the adhesive industry, we have worked with a wide range of structural adhesives from the most popular manufacturers to the industry’s best-kept secrets. In this article, we review Infinity Bond MMA 310 and Infinity Bond MMA 310 Plus, including their different specifications, how effective they are, and their ideal applications.

About Infinity Bond MMA 310

Infinity Bond MMA 310 400 ml C-System Cartridge – 1:1 medium-set adhesive, 8–12 min work time for metals and plastics

Infinity Bond MMA 310 is the original formula for a two-part methacrylate adhesive that is designed for high-strength and load-bearing applications. It is compatible with a wide range of substrates, including steel, aluminum, fiberglass, and various plastics. The adhesive has a 1:1 mix ratio, can be used for gap filling up to 0.375 inches (9.5 mm), and has a working time of approximately 8 to 12 minutes, depending on the specific conditions.

With strong resistance to heat, cold, weather, and some chemicals, the Infinity Bond MMA adhesive is compatible with demanding bonding environments. It also offers a good level of flexibility, impact resistance, and the ability to withstand temperature fluctuations for applications involving movement or thermal cycling. Like other methyl methacrylates, the MMA 310 glue requires minimal surface preparation.

You can buy Infinity Bond MMA 310 online in 50 mL and 400 mL cartridges. Five-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums are available by request. Infinity Bond MMA 310 Black is also available online for purchase.

About Infinity Bond MMA 310 Plus

50 ml MMA 310 Plus dual-cartridge adhesive with 20–25 minute fixture time.

Infinity Bond MMA 310 Plus is an updated version of the original MMA 310 adhesive from Infinity Bond. While it has almost identical properties as the original formula, it does have a few notable differences.

Like the MMA 310, MMA 310 Plus is a 1:1, two-part methacrylate adhesive that can be used to bond steel, aluminum, fiberglass, and various plastics. It has great chemical, impact, temperature, and weather resistance for demanding bond environments. The Infinity Bond MMA 310 Plus formula has a slightly longer working time of approximately 14 to 19 minutes and a fixture time of 20 to 25 minutes.

Infinity Bond MMA 310 Plus is recommended over the original formula for new customers. You can buy Infinity Bond MMA 310 Plus online in 50 mL cartridges, 400 mL cartridges, 5-gallon pails, and 55-gallon drums.

Are They Effective?

Infinity Bond is a notable brand because it offers a wide range of adhesive products, such as MMAs, epoxies, and cyanoacrylates, that are often a lower-cost alternative to other top brands. But are these adhesives worth the price, or do you get what you pay for?

After using and testing both product formulas, our team recommends Infinity Bond MMA 310 and Infinity Bond MMA 310 Plus for compatible applications and bonding environments. When applied correctly, they offer a high-strength and high-performance bond for structural and load-bearing assemblies. They can be especially effective for applications involving dissimilar substrates or environments exposed to thermal cycling. Like other MMAs, they can tolerate light surface contamination to minimize surface preparation time and potentially increase production speed.

Strengths:

  • High tensile strength
  • Chemical resistance
  • Weather and temperature resistance
  • Impact and shock resistance
  • Wide range of substrate compatibility
  • Price

Limitations:

  • Not UV stable
  • Not compatible with low surface energy plastics
  • Can have a strong odor (like most MMAs)

Vs. Plexus® MA310

Single 400 ml cartridge of Plexus MA310 adhesive

A very similar product to the Infinity Bond MMA 310 methacrylate adhesive formulas is the Plexus® MA310 methacrylate adhesive. In particular, the original Infinity Bond formula offers almost identical product specifications and performance to the Plexus product with slight variations in work life time and time to reach handling strength.

The biggest difference between the two is often the price. While Plexus tends to be more expensive, Infinity Bond MMA 310 may be a cost-saving solution for compatible applications. If you are considering moving to an Infinity Bond MMA 310 adhesive formula, just be sure that it matches your particular application needs.
