There seems to be some confusion about the low temperature glue guns and sticks. This article seeks to clear up the differences between low temperature and standard (high temp) hot melt dispensing and point out what type of applications are best suited for each. 

What is a low temperature glue stick?

A low temperature glue stick simply has a lower melting temperature. This means instead of becoming liquid at 380 Degrees like standard hot melt, it usually hits liquid form around 250 Degrees. 

When should you use a low temperature glue gun?

A low temperature glue gun is necessary when you are using a low temp glue stick. Some brands carry all-temperature glue sticks that work in both low temp and standard hot glue guns. 

What materials work best with a low temperature glue gun and glue stick?

Foam, fabric, thin films/plastics and other temperature sensitive substrates are excellent candidates for low temperature hot melt. The reduced heat greatly reduces the chance of damaging these type of products.
